I had to laugh while reading these last posts, not at y'all, but with y'all. This is definitly a female thing. Myself and most guys (all guys?), I would guess, wouldn't care much about certain days passing us by. If I was invited to a Valentines Day ordeal with the guys, I wouldn't even show up. I don't think I'd have to worry about being ivited, because I doubt there are any guys out there that would feel left out. I hope you ladies have a nice time, though.

I just have to add one more thing because of something that happened today. It's amazing how nice a simple pat on the shoulder can be. I love the guys I work with. Most are married or younger than me; but being single, I get a real kick out of working with these good looking men. And yes, I can enjoy the scenery without getting any "strange" ideas. One or two of them will frequently pat me on the arm or shoulder, and it's so nice. Just a generic brotherly touch once in a while. I can get my daily infusion from enjoying their brotherly macho attitude without getting hung up on any other silly stuff -- and it's so nice. Just being touchable and able to touch can make quite a difference.

I just want to say that we can be (and are) more of a blessing to others than we could ever imagine.
All of the suggestion's above are excellent!
If you think you can't do much...guess again.
You can bless someone in the simplest ways.
A quick phone call...sending birthday smiles to folks having birthdays here on CSD, or just random friendship smiles to those you feel comfortable sending to. I send most cards to women here...since many have told me that men don't send them anything or reply. (calm down guys I know you are not ALL that way) :o)
If it's a family member...send a thinking of you card for no reason...make one on your PC if your budget is tight...they are more personal anyway. Or keep a few in your car.
If you are passing by a friends house you can quickly sign your name and leave it in the door if you are in a hurry. If you are shopping, make a point of making eye contact with people & smiling at them. They may be feeling like no one cares and YOU just did.
Anyway, you get the drift here. It just boils down to WANTING to be a blessing to someone. If you want to you can and will be. And God will bless YOU for it.
Now go practice. :o)

How about just practicing being aware of what is happening around us and willing to do a "random act of kindness" when the fleeting opportunity presents itself. I still remember the day I was down town, digging through my purse for change for the parking meter, and a passerby dropped in a quarter and kept walking without missing a step. Being willing to reach out and touch someone when the opportunity comes along can make a huge difference in how the rest of the day goes -- for both people, the giver and the receiver. Planning is good, but a certain amount of serendipity can add an unexpected brightness to life.

Good idea, Retta.
I'd add the following:
1) FREE childcare for a couple who needs a date night.
2) Acknowledge the other groups of singles - namely the older widows and widowers. They might appreciate a note in the mail, fresh flowers, help with lawn care, a ride to the grocery store, help paying bills, house cleaning, or just a visit from you.
3) Volunteer your time. Isn't that better than sitting around wondering why you're still single?
