chalena claimed to be a 30 year old 5'8" 165 pounds female who "work for a semiar" from New York.
She used a stolen credit card and the owner was called and informed of the theft, and reimbursed. The owner doesn't have a clue how her card was stolen. If anyone knows of how these cards get stolen or has read anything about it, please let us know. I know there are websites that buy and sell card info, so it could be your hairdresser, or sales clerk, or waiter or anyone wanting a fast buck. It could be an unscrupulous employee at a bank. Who knows? Let me know if you hear anything.
In her profile she writes:
"My name is chalenajane i am brought up from a christian family am the the child of the family my mum is an african while my dad is from NY in united state i have so many uncle that are there for me all the time."
What is the tell-tale sign here? Model photo. Claims to have a "mum" from Africa.
Typically all scammers are orphans or have only a "mum" left. They just don't talk in our language, even though they claim to be from the U.S. Watch for this. I hate to teach the scammers how to be better scammers, but our members need to know how to spot them. The photo alone is a major clue.
She sent this mail online, fortunately only to one person:
"hello am chalena jane, thanx for your message it was lovely.i really love to chat with you online ,am God fearing and obey the word of God let chat on yahoo or msn sometimes okay

Guys, don't write to her. She's a scammer and is most likely a guy anyway, and her photo was stolen from a modeling agency website. That's the way they work. Yes, women do get involved in the scams as some will even talk to you on the phone. Many, men and women, will make this happen for months at a time, sending you trinkets and small gifts. Getting ready for the big sting. You fall in love, gonna get married, their "mum" gets very sick and they have to go to Africa, can't afford meds, can't get back. Need you to send them cash quickly, they will pay you back. I've even heard of one asking for money for the wedding dress, etc., guy sends cash, and on the day of the wedding no bride, never heard from again.
These are romance scammers. Please, if they look like a model, be careful. Ask for their pastor's name and address. Ask them for a U.S. phone number to call, EVEN IF THEY CLAIM TO BE OUT OF THE COUNTRY AT THE MOMENT. If they are scammers, you'll never hear from them again. If they tell you they are from U.S. but don't have a U.S. phone, watch out. I'm not saying everyone with a model looking photo and a mum in Africa and doesn't have a U.S. phone is a scammer, but...
And if I can teach you ONE thing, it is this: NEVER SEND MONEY. They ask for it, even as a loan, or hint about it, WATCH OUT. NEVER SEND MONEY. NEVER TAKE A MONEY ORDER AND CASH IT FOR THEM. THESE ARE FAKE MONEY ORDERS AND YOUR BANK WILL COME BACK TO YOU FOR THE CASH.
