The Quintain is a poem with a stanza (or stanzas) with of five verses. This Acrostic in Quintain has rhymes which flow continuously within the framework of aaaaa. These end rhymes are made up feminine and masculine rhymes.

A masculine rhyme refers to a rhyme that occurs in words of one syllable or with an accented final syllable. The feminine rhyme refers to a rhyme that occurs in words of two or more syllables; usually the final syllable is unaccented.

The prevailing measure in the poem is that of the Iambic Pentameter. However, the dactyl, pyrrhic, spondee, trochee and anapaest have been thrown into the iambic verses for good measure. This is necessary in order get rid of the monotonous rhythm of daDUM, daDUM so characteristic of standard Iambic Pentameter verses. An Iambic Pentameter is a verse that contains five iambic feet.
