Rebecca Louise Choban
Jan. 1, 1964 - Oct. 11, 2006
A funeral service for Rebecca Louise Choban, R.N., BSN, 42, of Coos Bay, will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 24, at the Coos Bay Seventh-day Adventist Church, 2175 Newmark Ave. Interment will be at Ocean View Memory Gardens in Coos Bay.
Rebecca was born Jan. 1, 1964, in Deer Park, Calif., the daughter of Charles and Beverley (Akers) Stout. She died Oct. 11, 2006, in Coos Bay.
Becky or Beck, as she was more commonly known by family, moved to the South Coast in April 2004. Her birth was celebrated by many as she was the first baby born in her county in 1964. Her life was full of love and ministry to all.
Rebecca took joy in participating in church ministries such as leading out and helping in the children's Sabbath school classes, Bible studies, potlucks, community service and going on mission trips. She received her bachelor of science degree as a registered nurse from Union College in Lincoln, Neb. She worked as a nursing supervisor and director of nursing. But, most of all, Rebecca was the best mother any child could ask for. She home-schooled her son, Nicholas. He not only excels at the fundamentals of education, he also is a very healthy, gentle and loving child.
Rebecca is survived by her parents, Pastor Charles and Beverley Stout of Coos Bay; son, Nicholas Choban of Harrisburg, Pa.; and siblings, Margie Johnson of Woodworth, N.D., Chuck Stout of Loma Linda, Calif., and Cynthia Black of Coos Bay.
The family suggests memorial contributions to Gold Coast Christian School, 1251 Clark St., North Bend, OR 97459.
Arrangements are under the direction of Coos Bay Chapel, 267-3131.
