I've been through that valley of the shadow of unforgiveness also-the ONLY thing I've found which truly helped is something I read on page 552 of the book "Alcoholics Anonymous".
It states, "If you have a resentment you want to be free of, if you will pray for the person or thing that you resent, you wil be free. If you will ask in prayer for everything you want for yourself to be given to them, you will be free. Ask for their health, their prosperity, their happiness, and you will be free. Even when you don't really want it for them, and your prayers are only words and you don't mean it, go ahead and do it anyway. Do it every day for two weeks and you will find you have come to mean it and to want it for them, and you will realize that where you used to feel bitterness and resentment and hatred, you now feel compassionate understanding and love."
Sometimes I have to ask first for the willingness to pray for someone else, but that always comes if I ask...

The forgiving, is the easiest part, it is the forgetting. We don't really forget, we just go on with the Lord taking that from our hearts and lives. Giving it all to Him, and letting Him deal with our hurts and confusions. He cries when were are hurting and he hurts when we hurt. If we do not forgive it is like crucifying Jesus all over again.
Just give it all to Jesus, I have been there and done that myself. But He was able to take my hurt and the hurting that it was doing to me and turn it into love for the one who hurt me. That has been over 11 years ago and he has died. That was such a big burden that I carried for so long, but I forgave and he asked to be foregiven. I told him that I forgave him before he asked.
We were able to talk long distance almost to the end of his life. I felt free, and he did too I am sure. He was part of my growing up years. Someday I will see him again, when the Lord comes for the saints and we can go marching home up those steps to heaven with the Lord leading the way home.

PLEASE PLEASE pray for me to help me to forgive.... I am having so much trouble forgiving someone in my family that has hurt me so much, actually most of my life!!
I am having so much trouble forgiving this person and forgetting about this completely!!
Please, PRAY for me to see this person in God's eyes and to love them like he does.
